a gift

a day of waiting expectantly, but nothing.

my hope dwindled and insecurity grew.

losing sight of the gift and vision from you.

trusting the lies of the enemy to think you are untrue.

yet your character doesn’t falter or change,

it’s my emotions and mind that sway.

hold fast to my hand, whisper to my heart.

remind my emotions and thoughts of your plans.

the worry and the wrestle are your battleground,

it isn’t my hands or my feet that carry the victory - it’s jesus’ righteousness in me.

stabilize my faith and strengthen my trust.

you are always sovereign and have yet to let me go.

i bring my weariness and burdens to your feet, instead of walking in defeat.

lift my eyes to meet your gaze, mirror the hope and goodness of your love.

knowing your wisdom far exceeds my wildest dreams,

i surrender my simple day dreams

to ready my hands and eyes to receive and watch your gift befall.

waiting in confidence,

keeping in company,

living lightly and freely

hand and hand with you.
