A few weeks ago, I shared my journey of unemployment and taking a leap of faith. Deciding to move to Asheville (or begin the process of moving) in faith knowing that God would provide where He was leading me.
I posted that blog on Monday afternoon. That morning I had an interview for a job that I was really excited about and hoped would be the position I would get.
I eagerly waited a call back (set for Wednesday morning).
At 8:20am on Wednesday, I walked out of my chiropractic appointment to my phone ringing from the principal. I knew it would be good news considering it was so early in the morning and it was a phone call! (My previous rejections were in the later afternoon or via email)
I was ecstatic to receive a job offer from this principal!
So…I’ll be teaching 6th grade Math and Science at Koontz Intermediate in Asheville, NC!! This is the same school I taught at before the race, and I am excited to return to the school that I started my career at. I am pumped to work with the administration and the 6th grade team. It is also fun to see some fellow teachers that I knew from my teaching career before that are still around.
I know teaching 6th grade will be a challenge, especially all of the information that students need to know for math and science curriculum. Including the challenge of COVID…not knowing what school will look like this fall and how to help students “catch up” from those things that weren’t covered from the ending of the last school year due to COVID’s impact of abruptly changing to virtual learning. But I am eager for the opportunity to take on the challenge. I am trusting the Lord to direct my steps and give me wisdom where I am not even sure where to begin. I look forward to the next few weeks to continue studying curriculum and standards, begin decorating my classroom, and figuring out what this school year will look!
I was able to visit the school last week when I was visiting NC.
The front walkway to the school
My classroom, room 627 (peep my Mom helping clean up)
My beautiful view of all the green trees and a sweet kidney table
See my excitement for my room 🙂
The Lord has truly blessed me with the best classroom…all the little pluses I hoped for (my own closet, being close to the bathroom, a beautiful view). He is a sweet Father.
I am excited to continue on this journey with the Lord! And I’m sure to be sharing more pictures of my classroom on my social media pages in the coming weeks.
As for my journey with this blog, it ends here. Bittersweet it being the last day I work for Adventures. However, if you wish to continue to keep in touch, reach out to my personal email if we aren’t already connected by phone or social media. Email: [email protected]
Much love,
Beth
