Dreams Are Blooming

The Lord has given me the opportunity to continue my Kingdom dream of starting a jewelry class in the Baker and Glover mobile home park. I am so humbled that He chooses to use me and give me favor in this community. My heart delights when I spend time with the community.

On Monday night, we had a birthday party during our English class. I loved just breaking bread around a table with these women. To see God’s joy pouring out of them as they laughed and shared stories…including how their husbands snore.

I also don’t think I’ve every heard so many different birthday songs…I believe we sang four different ones. Not as simple as the English “Happy Birthday” song.

I shared with the ladies on Monday night about my dream. How I wanted to offer a jewelry class for them to attend, if they were interested and they could also invite their friends. I desire for the ladies to have an opportunity to share their burdens with each other, encourage each other, pray for one another–all the while expressing their talents and gifts through crafts like jewelry. An art of worship for the Father.

Here is the flyer I am distributing in the community:

Women’s Jewelry Classes

Jewelry classes for adult women in the Baker and Glover Community

The jewelry class will be 1-1.5 hours designed for women to enjoy creating necklaces, bracelets and earrings, and also build friendships together. The classes will cost $5.00 per class or $20.00 for 6 classes. Whatever you create in the class, you are free to take home to wear, give as a gift or sell for a profit.

Purpose of the classes: Learn a new hobby, get to know your neighbors, practice your English, and have fun!

The classes are to begin in January. However, they were receptive of the idea and wanted to start in December–with the idea that whatever they make they can give away as a Christmas gift for their family members. I love that they are thinking of others even in the midst of a new opportunity for themselves.

With that said, I need help! I need you!

1. Prayers: Continue to pray for the ladies that the Lord desires to come to these classes and that it would be an awesome opportunity to build trust and share His hope with them (especially in educating them in the relationally aspect of the Father instead of just a religion).

2. Donations: Let’s be honest, before I continue working on this project…I am in need of support for my job at Adventures. In 2017, I’ll be involved in at least 3 international trips. January: I will be in Uganda for 3 weeks for Fusion’s training camp and launch into their race. February: I will be going with a group of parents to Thailand to do ministry alongside of their racers. July: I will be going to Puerto Rico to lead a group of high schoolers on their summer mission trip.  Feel free to support my mission at my job in order for me to meet my $6000/year fundraising goal.

3. Donations for the jewelry class: There are two ways to give to this.

A. Email me for my address to mail a check or gift card ([email protected])

B. Purchase/Donate (for those of you crafters out there) an item from the list below. If you live close by, I can pick it up. If you don’t live by and shipping is too expensive, let’s chat about an option (maybe I’ll be visiting soon…talking to you, Alabama and North Carolina).

 Items needed: Updated 12/21

1. 5 sets of Tools (needle nose pliers, round nose pliers and side cutters)

*Men out there, if you have any of these around the garage that are extra or you don’t need–I will gladly take these out of your hands!

 2. 10 Design Boards

*These can be found at Walmart or a craft store.

3. 5 types of plastic Bags (small jewelry plastic bags to store beads and metal pieces in)

*These can be found at a craft store. I’ll take any of the sizes (1.5X3″, 2×3″ and 4×6″)

4. Beads, wires, chains, or any material for jewelry making!

*If you have a craft box that has some items in it, I don’t mind taking those as donations. Also, if you have any old jewelry that could be deconstructed to use pieces from, that is fine as well!

5. 10 Reusable bags

*Yes, the $1 kind that you can find at a grocery store or pretty much anywhere these days.

  1. Beautiful Beth! I’m sure I have some crafting items. Feel free to come over and take a look! Love this! Love you!!!

  2. I have some old costume jewelry and unmated earrings you can have. I’m polling my crafty friends to see if they have anything. We’ll send some $$, too.

  3. That is awesome! Thank you so much! I’ll be in Auburn all next week for Thanksgiving. But shipping it to GA might work best. Whenever you are ready to donate the items, email me and I’ll give you the address 🙂
