A Meaningful Word
As I walked into the woods,
Looking for that special tree
That precious carving made by the hands of someone else
Waiting and expecting to find that word
To brush my fingertips across it:

P
E
To wait for your Hope to fill my soul
To meet you in the middle of the walking trail
As the creek trickles on down
I stand on the bridge
As the words come to mind
I type out my heart cry
I just need to breathe
To sit with Hope again
To feel it rise in my bones
To remember the taste of it
To reflect on the promise of it
To still my heart to hear of it
To observe it all around me
To move in it again
Gratitude sinks in my heart as I trust your faithfulness
Waiting for you to stir
Sorrow aches my soul for losing sight of you in the chaos of work and life
Grief crashes in my mind as I reflect on wasted time away from you
Mercy overflows to my heart, releasing your forgiveness for my repentance
Grace dances around me because your arms are surrounding me as we explore in nature and in spirit
Love and light are tangible around me in the couples, children, parents as they trot by
Hope is beginning to bloom in my heart again, even if it is as small as the current in the creek I am standing over

Beckoning my heart for greater levels of trust
To know your promises are true
To know your timing is precise
To know your means are purposeful
To know your plans are fruitful
To know your love is enduring
To know your hope is steadfast
